FLASH - Fitness Day on the Hill
The Minister of Health, the Honorable Tony Clement, and Member of Parliament Stephen Fletcher have committed to hosting the Inaugural Fitness Day on the Hill in Ottawa on Thursday, November 23, 2006. The event has been proposed and organized by Dave Hardy and the Fitness Industry Council of Canada (FIC). FIC is inviting key commercial club owners and managers from across Canada as well as representatives from the public sector, (Parks and Recreation and Community Centres) and the charitable sector (YMCA Canada). Heads of various sport associations are also invited.
The occasion will focus on the industry’s collective support of the Child Tax Credit for organized fitness activity and on the common advocacy for an Adult Fitness Tax Credit. All are key to Fitness Industry Canada’s campaign to make gym memberships tax deductible.
A key photo op during the day long meeting will be a Parliament Hill Spin class with government officials and fitness industry providers peddling energetically together to the same music.
Kudos to Dave Hardy and the Fitness Industry Council of Canada for furthering our common cause – a healthier, fitter Canada!
