IRVINE, CA – Star Trac has partnered with HealthCorps, founded by Dr. Mehmet Oz, to host Chain Reaction, a charity group cycling event targeting childhood obesity, during the International Health, Racquet and Sportsclub Association (IHRSA) trade show and convention, March 17-19, 2009 in San Francisco.

Dr. Oz, heart surgeon and host of the upcoming “Dr. Oz Show” from Oprah Winfrey’s Harpo Productions, was motivated to start HealthCorps after treating younger and younger adult patients requiring extensive surgery on blocked arteries. “I’m grateful to Star Trac and the many fitness industry professionals who are organizing and supporting Chain Reaction,” said Dr. Oz.

Chain Reaction is a three-day indoor cycling party and benefit, showcasing Spinning® as a fun, easy way to stay in shape. Star Trac and HealthCorps have set a fundraising goal of $1 million with the money raised going to support HealthCorps in funding its school-based mentoring program in Los Angeles, San Francisco and San Diego.
