Sogo Active Launches
| TORONTO – The exciting first phase of Sogo Active – a Canada-wide “for youth, by youth” engagement movement that promotes physical activity and sport participation amongst youth ages 13 to 19 – is rolling out, and we are inviting you to be involved. | ![]() |
The five-year initiative is presented by Coca-Cola Canada in collaboration with ParticipACTION and its partners. We’re building a national network that connects youth with their peers and local community organizations. Through www.sogoactive.com, they can set activity goals, share challenges, celebrate successes and use their own ideas to become the most active young people on earth!
Community hosts will receive support from a provincial or territorial coordinator, a package of promotional materials (posters, buttons, pamphlets and stickers) and access to small grants for youth-driven initiatives that inspire their peers to get moving.
For youth who join the movement, Coca-Cola is providing once-in-a-lifetime experiences, including the chance to carry the Olympic Flame in the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Torch Relay. A minimum of 1,000 torchbearer spots are available to be earned across the country.
For Community Hosts who sign up by January 31, 2009, Coca-Cola will provide an additional opportunity for 20 of their Sogo Active youth to carry the Olympic Flame in the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Torch Relay, through a merit-based selection process.
