Introducing…Life in Action
The Life in Action program inspires, educates and empowers youth across North America to make positive changes through healthy choices, an active lifestyle and social responsibility. Its unique approach connects the everyday decisions of young people with their ability to positively impact on the lives of their peers in developing countries.
The program begins with an interactive speech, full of interesting facts and personal stories, delivered to a school’s student body. The students of one Grade 6 class have the opportunity to be trained as Life in Action Ambassadors. Motivational resources include a classroom curriculum, T-shirts, posters, pedometers and Take Action! A Guide to Active Citizenship, written by Craig and Marc Kielburger of Free the Children.
Since 2005, Life in Action has spoken to over 150,000 youth, trained more than 7,200 Ambassadors and raised over $120,000 for Free the Children’s international development projects. Using a proven method of youth engagement through education, inspiration and leadership training, the program is creating a grassroots shift in how schools and youth approach the issues of childhood obesity in North America and malnutrition around the world.
